John is a horse trainer from northwestern North Dakota.  He has been inducted into the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame (Cowboy Long Rider - 2009).  He is also an AQHA Professional Horseman.

Each year, the Hovde Ranch hosts the AQHA Trail Ride.
